What Could Have Been At NBNI: A Look At PA's Best

Relays - Top Names That Would Have Appeared At NBNI

Neumann Goretti - Girls 4x800m and 4x400m

The Saints are the defending champions in the 4x800 and the 2019 runner-up, and the the girls from South Philly were primed to be in contention for wins in both events this season. Last year, NG ran 9:02.17 to break the PA state record and win the title. This winter, NG went 9:04.76, a US No. 1, to win the PA state title two weeks ago. Certainly, NG would have another shot at the title this time around. Friends' Central, which ran a US No. 3 of 9:09.19 to take second to NG at states was also in the field. As for the 4x4, NG entered the weekend at US No. 4 with a best of 3:50.09 and would have been right in the mix for the win with usual powerhouses like Bullis (MD) and Western Branch (VA).

Friends' Central - Girls DMR and SMR

While FCS would have been a factor in the 4x8, the same could be said about their chances in the DMR on Friday night where the Phoenix entered at US No. 7 with a best of 12:07.89. At the indoor state meet, Friends' Central managed to run a time of 12:08.90, not far off their season best, despite the fact that the members of the relay were not fresh, coming off other events. Coming into the race fresh, they would have a shot at a high finish at NBNI. FCS was also entered in the SMR, where it sits at US No. 12.

Hatboro Horsham - DMR & 4xMile

The Hatters ran a time of 10:20.73 to win the indoor state title two weeks ago. They would have been right in the thick of it in a fairly wide open boys DMR, where only about three seconds separated the nation's top 7 ranked relays. Hatboro was to enter the meet at US No. 7 and surely would have been a factor near the front on the heels of a big season in the DMR. On Saturday, they were slated to come back in the 4xMile, where their depth at the distance would have likely put them in a spot to also compete for a high finish.
