Middle Atlantic Conference Calls Off Fall Season

The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) has become the latest collegiate conference to cancel its fall sports season, the MAC announced in a press release on Friday morning.

The MAC, a Division III conference based out of Annville, PA, joins Division I Patriot League and Division II PSAC as collegiate conferences to call off sports in the fall season due to the coronavirus pandemic. Two weeks ago, the conference announced it "intended to pursue athletics competition" this fall, but the MAC reversed course this week, suspending sports for the fall.

"After careful consideration of internal and external circumstances and with the health and well-being of each campus and community in mind, the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Presidents made the difficult decision to suspend all intercollegiate athletics competition through the fall semester in response to the COVID-19 pandemic," the release said.

In the release, the MAC said it will hope to shift fall sports to the spring "insofar as possible," while winter sports will have competitions scheduled for 2021.

The MAC competes in the NCAA's Division III and features 18 colleges, mostly from PA, but some from New Jersey and Maryland.
