Individuals Breakdown

Jenkintown's Luke Miller kept the District 1 Class A individual crown in the family last season. After his brother Jack Miller won back-to-back district titles in 2017 and 2018 (before winning a state title in '18), Luke followed up with a district win of his own at Lehigh last year. Now a senior, the younger Miller will also be looking to make it two-in-a-row in D1-A.

Miller is the favorite to do so. He easily captured the title last season, winning in runaway fashion. He was an unfortunate DNF at the state meet, so Miller will have plenty of motivation in 2020.

The Jenkintown contingent of boys will once again be looking for high finishes at the district and state level. Oliver Michell and Aiden Michell went 2-3 in the district last season and both earned state medals a week later. Oliver was 17th at states, while Aiden was close behind taking 19th. Carter Geer was fourth in the district last year and just missed a state medal, placing 26th. He was 16th in the state as a sophomore, so he will be looking to return to the podium this season.

Other top D1-A returners include Calvary Christian's Phillip Rogers, Bristol's Aidan Quattrocchi, and Jenkintown's Matt Visomirski are among the other top returners this season in D1-A.

Team Preview

Jenkintown has built itself into quite the PA powerhouse over the past few seasons. After rolling to the state title in 2018, the team retooled very nicely last season to take third in the state, establishing itself as quite the premiere program. Well, the full top seven from last year's team is back, so you know they will be a serious factor once again.

That returning squad includes defending district champ Miller and state medalists Oliver and Aiden Michell. Geer and Visomirski round out a very quality group of returning scorers from last season. If it wasn't for Miller's DNF at the state meet last season, we may be talking about Jenkintown's run for a three-peat state title in Class A.

The Drakes should easily capture the District 1 title once again this season and make another good run at the state title, which would be the program's second in three years. Look for Jenkintown to be not only Class A's top squads this season, but also one of Pennsylvania's top teams regardless of classification, just as it was during its 2018 state title run.

Dock Mennonite and Church Farm are among the squads that will aim to give a good challenge the Drakes this fall.
