AA Boys 110m Hurdles Preview
District 4 is the place to be if you're a hurdler this spring. The top names in both AA and AAA hail from D4, and in the AA 100 meter hurdles the one to beat is Jake Rose. The Southern Columbia junior has been on a tear this season and he now holds the fastest AA time in the high hurdles by over a second.
He'll enter Friday as the overwhelming favorite in the 110s. He's fresh off a nice PR of 14.10 to win the District 4 title. That is the second fastest time this spring in PA, regardless of classification. Rose has been consistent all season in the hurdles and hasn't missed a beat. With a good race, he could have a crack at the meet record, which stands at 14.00. Stay tuned.
The second seed is Tyler Elliott of Punxsutawney. Elliott went 15.31 to win the District 9 title and should be in line for a big day at states. The second fastest AA time in the state this season belongs to Jefferson Hill of Juniata Valley. The District 6 champion went 15.52 to win his district meet, but has a season best of 15.17 that will make him one of the top factors in this field.
Three of the top four seeds in the 110s are from District 4. After Rose, Montgomery's Ben Robinson is the third seed with a 15.43 from the D4 meet and Troy's Dustin Hagin is the fourth seed with a 15.44 from that same district meet.
Titusville's Frank Barger, the District 10 champion, and Michael Carlson, the District 3 champion, are among the other top seeds to watch for in what should be a quick AA 110m hurdles.
