Today, we salute Annie Lemelin. She had a terrific career at Mount Saint Joseph Academy, particularly during her senior season, when she captured the AAA state title in the 300m hurdles. She ran a PR this spring in the 300m hurdles of 44.12

Lemelin reflected on her career for PennTrackXC below.

What was your most memorable race/competition?

Well, after winning the state title in the 300mH, I'd have to say that that is definitely my most memorable race.

Where did you face your biggest competition?

At the 2021 Adidas Indoor Nationals. I ran against the U.S. No.1 in the 60mH and that was especially challenging but at the same time, it was pretty awesome.

Out of all of your high school accomplishments, which stands out the most?

Getting the state title in the 300mH.

If you could do it all over again, what would you change about your athletic career in high school?

I would pick up hurdling sooner than I did. I started hurdling in sophomore year. I taught myself by watching others and watching YouTube videos, but if I had picked it up in middle school, I think I would have been executing way faster times, especially in the 100mH.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

Overcoming the mental blocks that came with hurdling.

What will you miss the most?

My coaches.

Do you have any advice for younger athletes?

In this sport, you really have to work hard. You have to put a lot of time and effort into your event, and if your event is a technical one, like hurdles, then there is even more emphasis on working hard.

How have your coaches influenced your performances and your life goals overall?

They've influenced my performances and my life goals overall by believing in me.

What are your post-high school plans?

I will be attending the U.S. Naval Academy as a track recruit, and I hope to eventually become a pilot.

Any shoutouts?

My parents.
