Woehlcke, Mount Saint Joseph Impress At Briarwood

It was a strong day for the girls from Mount Saint Joseph Academy on Saturday. At the Briarwood Invitational, the Mount Saint Joseph girls ran to the team title  in the Championship Race (and the overall top team in the merge).

Sophomore Ella Woehlcke led the way for MSJA, running 19:36 to run away with the win. She was the only girl to break 20 on a warm day on Belmont Plateau's challenging 5K course. Woehlcke, who transferred to MSJA from Springside Chestnut Hill for this season, has made it two wins in as many meets to start her season. She won at Abington in Week 2.

It was a dominant effort overall for the Mount Saint Joseph Academy girls, which put five girls in the top 13 of the Championship race. After Woehlcke, Maggie Murphy took fourth in 20:32. Sarah Hughes was seventh, Mary McGrory was tenth, and Olivia Forti took 13th. Mount Saint Joseph scored just 35 points to beat out second place Strath Haven, which scored 65.

Rowe Crawford led the way for Haven, taking second in 20:27. Avon Grove's Annika Pfaff was third in 20:30.
