Girls Performer of the Week: Shannon Mullin (State College Area)

It was a busy week for Mullin, who competed at the State College Invitational #2 on Thursday close to home at Penn State, and then went to New York City on Saturday for the prestigious Millrose Games. At the SC Invite, Mullin won the long and triple jumps. In the triple, she leapt to a new indoor PR of 37-3, which puts her at PA No.3. Then at Millrose at the Armory, the bright lights didn't shake the senior, who jumped a big PR (indoors or outdoors) of 18-9 to take second to NY's Gianna Locci (currently US No. 2).

Mullin now sits at PA No. 2 behind only state record holder Avery Lewis. Mullin has been incredibly consistent this season, grabbing three wins in the long jump and two in the triple jump on the season. Clearly she likes the runways at Penn State, which bodes well for her ahead of the February 27 PTFCA Indoor State Championships back at Penn State.

Boys Performer of the Week: Ryan Pajak (Ringgold)

Pajak didn't get an indoor season during his strong freshman season last year due to the pandemic. But now the sophomore, who won a WPIAL title and took eighth in the state in AA XC, is making the most of his opportunity to compete indoors this year. At the SPIRE Ohio Championship Meet in across state lines in Geneva, Pajak turned in a pair of strong performances.

Pajak ran 9:21.97 to take fifth in the 3,200 meters and 4:28.89 for tenth in the 1,600 meters. That 3,200 time is a PA No. 3, putting Pajak behind only Gary Martin and CJ Singleton in the state rankings. Pajak's 1,600 time is a PA No. 9. It was a terrific high school indoor debut for Pajak, who is surely ready to put up even faster times as his career progresses.
