District 10 Class A Girls - Race Preview
- State Qualifying Spots For Teams: 2
- State Qualifying Spots For Individuals: 10
Contending Teams: West Middlesex, Seneca, Lakeview
The Rundown:
The battle between West Middlesex and Seneca will produce a treat. West Middlesex has the better 1-5 average, but Seneca makes up for that with a stout compression. Most recently, West Middlesex finished runner-up at the Dirty Dawg Invitational. AnnaSophia Viccari won that meet, and teammate Lia Bartholomew joined her to complete a strong 1-2 punch.
Seneca was fourth at the same meet, fourteen points back. We may be able to expect a similar outcome.
Lakeview is looking to steal a state qualifying spot. They too have an impressive 1-2, but lack the depth of two previously mentioned teams.
Can anyone challenge Willow Myers? She was lights out at the John Sample Invitational, running sub-19 on the cross course for the first time. McElhaney is her closest competitor. She ran 19:16 earlier this year and is riding a string of strong finishes.
Viccari and/or Bartholomew could potentially challenge them. Viccari has enjoyed an incredibly consistent season, running around 19:50 on four separate occasions. That could pay dividends this weekend as she rides a two race win-streak
District 10 Class AA Girls - Race Preview
- State Qualifying Spots For Teams: 2
- State Qualifying Spots For Individuals: 10
Individuals To Watch: Sydney Bayle (General McLane), Sarah Clark (Cathedral Prep), Anne-Catherine Brown (Cathedral Prep)
Contending Teams: General McLane, Cathedral Prep, Grove City Area
The Rundown:
Cathedral Prep has been the pinnacle of excellence this season. to highlight the year, they won the Varsity A Race at the prestigious Manhattan Invitational. Expect them to roll through the division and score a high-20 point victory. General McLane should cruise to second, but Grove City is going to try to interrupt that.
They're led by Sarah Clark and freshman Anne-Catherine Brown. Clark has run consistently all year, and ran as fast as 18:44. She was eighth at the Manhattan Invitational this year. Brown was 16th in the same race.
Sydney Bayle has also enjoyed a strong season, running similar marks to them. She may mix it up. Jillian White should also be up front.
District 8/9/10 Class AAA Girls - Race Preview
- State Qualifying Spots For Teams: 1
- State Qualifying Spots For Individuals: 5
Individuals To Watch: Ruthie Haworth (Taylor Allderdice), Sidney Beers (Dubois Area)
Contending Teams: Taylor Allderdice, McDowell, Dubois Area
The Rundown:
It is a three horse race for one spot between McDowell, Taylor Allderdice and Dubois Area.
In truth theres no runaway favorite, but Dubois Area and Taylor Allerdice have an edge. Dubois has the low stick in Morgan Roemer. She has run 18:37 and will more than likely snag the individual victory. Add in Sidney Beers and Dubois could go 1-3. They're going to need it, because there could be a pack of girls behind Beers.
Ruthie Haworth will lead Taylor Allderdice with her 19:13. She will be in the running with Roemer. The key to victory for TA, will be putting their four ahead of Dubois Area's third. They need to disrupt Dubois' middle runners.
McDowell is not out of it, but they need a strong team effort.
