Kailey Granger discusses Dallastown 1-3 finish, earning District 3 Title.
States week is here. This week certainly shook some things up as teams round into championship form. There were surprises across the state, including a big runner-up by Phoenixville and a win by Manheim Township. We're excited to see how things play out in Hershey this week.
Because Cross Country is so unpredictable and there are so many variables at play, these power rankings are somewhat speculative. They are derived from a combination of performances, analytics, and opinions.
Girls Top 10 Teams - POWER RANKINGS Edition #7
RANK(PREV) | TEAM | RATIONALE |
---|---|---|
1 (1) | North Allegheny continued their excellent 2022 campaign, with another win at the District 7 Championship. They enter the week as the heavy favorites to win the 3A crown, and it is to be seen if they can deliver on that. | |
2 (2) | OJR continued their scorching hot season with yet another win, this time at the District 1 Championships. They knocked off a couple of other ranked teams. This adds yet another jewel victory to their already impressive 2022 Resume. They'll be in search of a fantastic finish at this weekend's PIAA State Championship. | |
3 (3) | As expected, Emmaus rolled to the team Championship at the District 11 Championship. They came out swinging and executed perfectly to earn the win. They'll enter the weekend with high hopes and achievable goals. They have executed on a high level all season. | |
4 (4) | A week after winning the Mid-Penn Championship, State College dominated the District 6 Championship. They are a perennial powerhouse, and will be in contention for a Top-3 finish this weekend. | |
5 (5) | Mount Lebanon finished second to North Allegheny at the District 7 Championships. With St. John Kletter as a contender for the individual State Championship and Caroline Adams on her heels, Mount Lebo is packing a lethal 1-2 punch, which can propel them to a great finish at the state meet. | |
6 (NR) | Phoenixville enters the Top-10 for the first time this season, after powering to a second place finish at the District 1 Championships. The squad finished behind OJR, but it has rounded into championship form at the perfect time. | |
7 (6) | Perkiomen Valley finished third, behind OJR and Phoenixville at the District 1 Championship meet. They are a stout squad with strong pack at their core, but they lack a true front runner, who can grab a low stick for them. | |
8 (7) | Dallastown finished second at the District 3 Championship with two runners in the top-3. Those two low sticks will be extremely helpful towards the team scores this week, as a stacked field will effectively push mid-pack runners down the pecking order. | |
9 (NR) | Manheim Township | Manheim Township has rattled off a number of strong wins, including their win at the District 3 Championship, this past week. They upset Dallastown and it could be argued that they deserve to be ahead of them. But Dallastown still possesses a very capable 1-2 of Kailey Granger and Victoria Rodriguez who finished in first and third respectively. Look for the MT crew, to finish the season strong, and contend for a Top-5 at states. |
10 (10) | Chambersburg | Chambersburg finished third at District 3 Championship behind Dallastown and Manheim Township. They are a respectable squad and may be on the verge of something better this week. |
