RANKINGS: Top 20 Girls Teams Edition #2

- - -

Introducing the second rendition of our 2024 Team Rankings. With a few weeks of competition under the belt, it was a good time to re-evaluate our preseason rankings.

A lot of teams on the girl's side are close to each other. This has made it incredibly difficult to compare teams. However with PIAA Foundation set for tomorrow, we'll get a great first look at how teams stack up with each other in bulk.

RATIONALE & NOTES

1 (1)

North Allegheny won the Red, White and Blue Classic (3A) race with a 19:44 average and a 53-second compression. The team then finished third at the Boardman Spartan XC Invitational (beat by two out-of-state teams). They were without Wren Kucler on both occasions.

2 (2)

Haverford Township was without Olivia Cieslak at the Unionville Two Mile Bash. Still, they posted a second place finish (behind OJR) with a 12:23 average and 1:33 compression. They were five points back from Owen J. Roberts but would in theory have more to gain from shifting their No. 4 runner to the No. 5 spot. The team then won the Penncrest Invitational on 9/14.

3 (3)

Similarly,  OJR was without Jane Kratz at this past weekend's Unionville Two Mile Bash, but that didn't stop the team from taking the Overall Win. In the merged results, OJR posted a 12:27 two mile average (top-five runners). With Kratz in the line-up, that average becomes much quicker.

4 (6)

Conestoga finished third in the meet merge at the Cherokee Challenge (NJ) with a 12:14 average over 3200m. The team's compression of 43-seconds was one of the best splits in the field. They were third to NJ No. 18 Ocean City and NJ No. 2 Pingry School. Conestoga then went one-through-five at the Central Athletic League Meet #2 on September 11th.
