SCRANTON, Pa. - The Danilovitz siblings swept the 2A 3200m races in a display of family prowess on day one of the District 2 Championship at Scranton Memorial Stadium.

Lacey Danilovitz and Daniel Danilovitz went back-to-back to win the boys and girls District 2 Championship titles, running times of 11:23.39 and 9:36.24, respectively. Despite the result being the same, both ran strategically different races.

Lacey was able to break away from the pack early and maintained a significant lead early.

On the other hand, Daniel was caught in a dogfight with Nick Hockenbury of Lake Lehman. Hockenbury was the defending champion of this championship race, while Daniel finished fourth a year ago.

Hockenbury let Danilovitz lead for the early parts of the race before making an aggressive move late. Danilovitz responded and recaptured his lead before running away from Hockenbury down the front stretch.

Both Danilovitz siblings will receive automatic bids to the PIAA Championship. Hockenbury should qualify for the PIAA Championship based on his 9:38 time, as should Jack Novelli of Wyoming Seminary, who finished in third with a 9:44.
