Mitch Codd of Seneca Valley and Adam Marzullo both cleared 13-6 in the boys competition and Taylor Yarshen of North Allegheny cleared 10-2 to win the girls competition.
Cody Brown of North Allegheny won the boys competition with a throw of 44-7 and Chelsea Zahn of Canon-McMillian won the girls competition with a throw of 31-03.50
Nate Harrigen of Norwin won the high jump with a height of 6-3 and Sean Fyalkowski of Hempfield Area won the shot put with a throw of 47-10.75 to highlight field event action. On the track, Brian Lauff of Fort Cherry won the 60 meter hurdles in 8.4 and Jerome Matthews of Schenley won the 220 yards in 23.5.
For the girls, Rachel Serafin of Hempfield Area won the shot put with a throw of 43-03.50, improving her PA#1 by almost a full foot, and moving up to US#6. Taylor Doaty of Oakland ran 9.3 to win the 60 meter hurdles, Shannon Abraham of Norwin won the 440 yard dash in 60.8, and Nicole Hilton of South Fayette won the mile in 5:19.4.
Brooke Hamscher of Whitehall improved her PA#1 in the pole vault with her clearance of 12 feet and Natasha McLaren of Stroudsburg won both the high jump (5-4 T-PA#3) and the long jump (17-7.25 PA#3) to highlight girls field events. On the track, Amanda Faust of Emmaus won the mile in 5:20.83, her sister Christina won the 3000 meters in 10:53.32 (in photo by Timothy O'Dowd, IrishRunner.com). Kayla Charles won the 55 hurdles in 8.86 and Jaz Little of Gateway won the 55 meter dash in 7.30, good for a tie for PA#3.
In boys action, Lanny Buck of Palisades won the pole vault with a height of 14 feet and Holden Wallace of Danville won the shot put with a throw of 51-04. On the track, Christian Malone of Whitehall ran 51.79 to win the 400 and Sam Bernitt of North Penn won the 1600 meters running 4:31.47.
Cathedral Prep's Anthony Jordon took 1st in two events with a 23.48 in the 200 and 7.29 in the 60. He ran 7:25 in the prelims of the 60. Teammate Joe Oduho captured the long jump, going 21-7.
Jerricka Belt of Laurel Highlands won the 60 dash in 8.1. Teammate Tiffany Marghella won the pole vault, clearing 10-7. In the boys vault, Nate Witter of James Buchanan and Jacob Hensh of Laurel Highlands tied for first, each going over 13-6.
West Catholic will have two runners in this week's finals of the Colgate Women's Games at Madison Square Garden. Chante Moore took 2nd in the 200 in 25.97, and Michelle Davis was 2nd in the 400 in 58.10. In the 1500, Mastbaum's Feleisha Wright took 3rd in 4:57.10.
In the boys events, Braheem Harvey of William Penn won the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 7.89, Almany Bangura of Milton Hershey ran 6.64 to win the 55 meter dash and 23.66 to win the 200 meter dash, Vince Fadale of Selinsgrove won the 1600 meter run in 4:30.82. Jake Brenza of Trinity won the shot put with a throw of 52-03 and Nathaniel Witter of James Buchanan cleared 14 feet to win the pole vault. For the girls, Kelsey Seymour of Central Cambria ran 5:17.99 to finish 2nd in the 1600 meter run and won the 800 meter run in 2:27.13.
Lehighton senior Abby Frey won the 55 in 7.37, the 200 in 27.04, and the long jump with a 18-04.75.
West Chester East won the distance Medley with a time of 12:55.21 and Emma Keenan of Gwynned Mercy won the 800 meters in 2:20.64 and Shelby Sydnor of Haverford Township ran 1:01.61 to win the 400 meters.
Evan Miller, Laurel, went 1:58.48 to win the 800. Penn Hills' Richard Rouse was a double winner, gong 22-4 in the long jump and 43-09.50 in the triple. West Allegheny's Matt Kovach took 2nd in the 400 in 51.70 and 6th in the 200 in 23.53. Sewickley Academy's Caitlin Bungo was 6th in the 1600 in 5:16.98.
Altoona's Brady Gehret ran a US#1 48.06 in the 400, and a US#2 21.44 for 200. Methacton's Carlton Lavong bettered his US#1 long jump to 24.6 and almost equalled his US#1 triple jump with a 49-1.
Other boys action included Alex Kenney of State College taking PA#2 honors winning the 60 meter dash in 6.93, Wade Endress of Altoona winning the mile run in 4:24.67, Nebiyu Osman of Mercersburg leading four under nine minutes with his performance of 8:56.40, Patrick Cochran of McDowell clearing 6-4 to win the high jump, Oliver Harbuck of McCaskey clearing 14 feet to win the pole vault, and Conestoga’s Chris Nelson continues his winning ways in the shot put with a toss of 53-04.50.
In girls action, Conestoga’s Kacie O’Neil won the 800 meters in 2:21.03 and was a member of the winning4x800 meter relay that ran 9:45.47. Annie Holland of Pennridge won the high jump with a height of 5-4, Lauren Terstappen of Phoenixville cleared 11-6 to win the pole vault and Jessica Matsinger won the triple jump with a leap of 35-01.25.
The Neshaminy boys won the 4x200 in a time of 1:33.3, Bensalem won both the Long Jump relay with a combined distance of 40-05.50 and the shot put relay with a combined mark of 96-00.5, and Upper Dublin won the high jump relay with a combined height of 11-9.
In PA girls action, Archbishop Ryan placed 3rd in the long jump relay with a combined mark of 31-01.50 and 4th in the triple jump relay with a combined mark of 62-02.50, and Council Rock South placed 6th in the 4x800 with a time of 10:00.0
Upper Darby was the top PA boys team in the shuttle hurdles with a 4th place finish in 32.14 and the best time in the 4x200, running 1:32.56 to place 8th in the prelim heats, Chester was the best PA team in the 4x400, running 3:27.58 to place 6th overall, and Penn Hills finished 4th in the 4x800, running 8:02.67. In the field events, Oneil Sandiford of Paul Robeson had the best mark in the high jump with a height of 6-8, but Coatesville had the best team mark by two inches, winning with a combined mark of 12-4. Coatesville also placed 5th in the triple jump relay with a mark of 83-11.50. St. Joe’s Prep placed 6th in the pole vault relay with a combined height of 25 feet.
For the girls, Chester finished 4th in the 4x200 with a time of 1:43.88 and Penn Hills was 6th with a time of 1:44.29. Penn Hills also finished 8th in the 4x400 with a new PA#1 time of 3:59.60. Strath Haven placed 6th in the shuttle hurdle relay with a time of 36.34. Cheltenham won the high jump relay with a mark of 10 feet, and they placed 5th in the long jump relay with a mark of 32-10.75. Archbishop Prendergast finished 2nd in the shot put relay with a distance of 71-00.25, and Girls High placed 3rd in the triple jump relay with a mark of 71-10.
Northwestern Lehigh's Lindsay Kerr was 6th in the invitational mile in 5:09.75, while Lewisburg's Kalyn Fisher took 8th in 5:10.82.
Izzy Moreno, Shaler Area, won the 55 meter dash in 6.63 and won the 200 meters in 24.29. Nate Harringer of Norwin won the high jump with a leap of 6-3 and Mitch Codd of Seneca Valley won the pole vault with a height of 13-6. For the girls, Krista Kuss of Baldwin ran 7.37 to win the 55 meter dash and ran 1:02.01 to win the 400 meter dash. Brittany Edwards of Baldwin won the triple jump with a mark of 36-08.50 and Larissa Debich of Hempfield Area won the pole vault with a height of 11-3.
