Sophomore Stefon Dodoo (Springside Chestnut Hill) found some pay dirt on Monday, posting a 1:50.88 800m to win the USATF JO Championship. Dodoo won the 15-16 year-old division with his new personal best time.

Dodoo opened with a 54.7 quarter, pacing the field through the opening lap. When the field began to break apart, he pressed on and closed in a 56.1

Impressively, Dodoo also ran and won his 800m preliminary race at the AAU Junior Olympic Championship at Drake University on Sunday. The final is slated for later today (August 2nd).

He is also entered in the 400m at AAU JO, which is slated for a Friday preliminary round.

Dodoo, who earned Second Team All-State honors last week in the 400m, is quickly becoming one of the best 800m runners in the US. His time is the quickest by a sophomore this year (nationwide) and breaks the state's previous sophomore best time of 1:51.59 run by Joseph Logue (Pennridge).

You could credit Dodoo's success to his versatility. He boasts a 200m personal best of 21.96, and a 400m PR of 47.73. As a result, he has both speed and strength down the stretch.
