A whopping 137 boys have shaved a minute or more off of their 2022 5K times this season and 14 have shaved over two minutes. Mid-pack guys don't normally get the attention they deserve, but they can work just as hard as your star front-runner... and these rankings prove that.
We compiled a list of all returners from 2022 and sorted the Top-500 based on Total Time Improved. This data could also be formatted as a percentage of time "dropped" but for the sake of simplicity and viewing pleasure - it is sorted as a difference of time.
Leading the list is Evan McKalsen (Brookville). McKalsen has dropped a stunning 2:48 off of his 5K time from 2022. The sophomore ran 17:14 to finish third at the Commodore Perry Invitational and he has multiple other strong efforts to back that one up. He finished 14th at the PIAA Foundation Invitational in 1A race.
