Logan St. John Kletter picked up right where she left off. On Wednesday, Mount Lebanon's Kletter ran a U.S. No. 1 mile, defeating a talented girls field at the MSTCA Holiday Challenge.
She ran 4:49.22, a new indoor personal best.
Racing in the New Balance girls one mile championship, Kletter followed cross country All-American Emily Bush through most of the race. After her opening 71-second 400m, Kletter found comfort in clipping away 37-second laps behind Bush.
But she timed her move, and with 200m to go, she let loose. Kletter took off and ran an unreal 32-second last lap, passing Bush for the win. Bush finished in second with a 4:50.75.
Fellow Pennsylvanian Alli DeLisi (Penn Charter) was also in the race. She posted a solid mile opener, running 5:00.45, her fastest indoor mile since the 2022 PTFCA Indoor State Championship that saw her finish second.
Kletter and DeLisi currently rank first and second in the state rankings.
