The Franklin and Marshall High School Invite #3 showcased high-level efforts that rank among the top in the state across various events. Breckin Swope in the pole vault and Kaitlyn Highduch in the 3000m are among many other standout athletes from Sunday's meet.
1. Breckin Swope catapults his way to a vault PR and state lead
Swope (East Pennsboro Area) was locked in Sunday, winning the pole vault contest by over a foot.
The Penn State commit earned himself a new indoor PR of 15-9, tying Palmyra's Mason Bucks for the state lead.
Note that Bucks did compete against Swope on Sunday, clearing 14-6 to take second place. Bucks's 15-9 effort, which Swope tied for the state lead, was from the VaultWorX - Pole Vault Meet #2 the previous weekend.
2. Kaitlyn Highduch gaps the 3000m field
Highduch (Governor Mifflin) moves to the PA No. 2 rank in the 3k after running 10:20.64. She broke away from Emmaus's Payton Campbell, winning by 15 seconds.
Highduch is becoming familiar with the 3k distance, with Sunday's race being her fourth time sub-10:30 this indoor season.
3. Ty'Shawn Ewings matches his high jump PR
Ewings (Harrisburg) flexed the consistent sharpness that every athlete strives for late in the season.
He won the high jump contest, clearing 6-6 just two weeks after he hit the mark for the first time in his indoor career. Ewings remains ranked 2nd in the state, along with four other athletes for the event.
4. Gabriel Scott lights up the 60m and 200m dashes
Scott (Central Dauphin) won the 60m dash in 6.97, beating 2nd place Amir Haskett (Coatesville) by a comfortable 0.15.
He also ran well in the 200m dash, clocking a new PR of 22.57.
Scott ranks 2nd in the state for the 60m with a 6.88 from a few weeks ago and is knocking on the PA Top 10 in the 200m with his 200m time from this past weekend.
5. Lily Carlson wins competitive pole vault field
Carlson (Bermudian Springs) defeated a stacked field of vaulters on Sunday, winning at a height of 12-6.
Kylie Eismann (Lower Dauphin) was 2nd, Adeline Woodward (Trinity) was 3rd, and Anna Rank (Elizabethtown Area) was 4th, all clearing 11-6.
6. Aasly DeLeon improves PR in the 60m dash
DeLeon (JP McCaskey) won the 60m dash finals in an impressive 7.78, moving her to 5th in the state this season.
She improved her previous PR of 7.84 by a very strong 0.06, showing that the senior is starting to peak well as the championship season approaches.
7. Colin Melhorn dominates the Shot Put
Melhorn (Selinsgrove) crushed the Shot Put field, winning by over three and a half feet.
He threw 53-9.5, earning a spot in the PA Top 10.
8. Abby Parise runs a massive 60m hurdle PR
Parise (Selinsgrove) improved her 60m hurdle PR from 9.60 to an impressive 9.39 to win on Sunday.
Parise's 0.21 PR ties her with Avery Elliott (Episcopal Academy) for the PA No. 9 rank.
9. J.P. McCaskey girls fly to 4x200m relay win
The J.P. McCaskey girls topped Warwick by over a second in the 4x200m relay.
J.P. McCaskey ran 1:45.75, half a second off their 1:45.21 season best. Warwick was 2nd in 1:47.05.
