GREENSBORO, NC - Kaddel Howard (Cedar Crest) is now the second fastest 400m runner in Pennsylvania history.
Representing High Level Track Club at the AAU Junior Olympic Games, Kaddel Howard ran a blazing 52.47 in the 400m prelims. She broke a near 14-year-old AAU national record with the effort and left the field in her wake. She won her heat by over 4-seconds.
Howard then returned to run a 52.87 in the finals and won the AAU Junior Olympic title.
With the 52.47, the rising junior surpassed Pennsylvania legend Talitha Diggs (Saucon Valley 20') in the 400m all-time state standings. Talitha's high school best came at the 2019 PIAA State Championship as she ran a 52.82 for the PA No. 2 all-time mark.
The Pennsylvania State Record still belongs to Sharon Dabney of John Bartam HS. In 1977, at the USA Outdoor Championships, Dabney ran a 51.55 400m.
