State Leaders

Jackson Kane (Ridley) and Julia Kelly (Downingtown West) were named last week's Athletes of the Week after their stellar performances on the XC Course. They both ran the fastest times of the day at the Unionville Two Mile Bash.

There were some incredible performances this past weekend as well. Each week - The PA MileSplit crew will nominate multiple athletes and allow you to vote for the Runner of the Week. This week's poll will close on Wednesday (September 18th) at 8:00 pm EST.

The Week's Boys Candidates:

(Listed in Random Order)

Isaac Opperman (State College) - Won the Spiked Shoe Invitational at Penn State University. Opperman outlasted in-state and out-of-state competition, winning in 15:19 over Lewisburg's Jonathan Hess. His time is currently the fastest time in the state this year.

Jack Bertram (North Allegheny) - Out-kicked Boardman's (OH) David D'Altorio to win the Boardman Spartan XC Invitational. Bertram crossed the line in 16:03 to win the out-of-state competition.

T.J. Zwall (Penn Charter) - Zwall ran 15:44 (5k) to win the George School Invitational. The victory was Zwall's second straight.

David Giles (Wyomissing Area) - The senior broke 16-minutes for the second time this season. Giles ran 15:56 to win the Fleetwood Quad XC Meet.



The Week's Girls Candidates:

Mackenzie Skelly (Penn Charter) - The eighth grader posted a blistering 17:44 5k at the George School Invitational to win the meet and set a new course record (unofficial, pending verification).

Ana Bondy (Carlisle) - Bondy ran a personal best time to win the Spiked Shoe Invitational at Penn State University. She notched an 18:15 to win by 17 seconds over a talented Central PA field.

Chloe May (Bedford) - Chloe May ran 18:42 to win the the Saint Francis Red Flash Invitational. She won the invitational by nearly two minutes.
