10/23-Lots of familiar names lead new 6-region format is District 10

Using a new regional format, District 10 has placed teams of similar size together. There are six regions and the meets serve as final preparation for districts in one week. In Region 1 at Buhl Park in Sharon, the Greenville boys held off West Middlesex by 11 behind a one-two performance by Jed and Jake Christiansen. Jed went 15:47 for the win. Hickory took the girls race by eight over Sharon, behind a 2nd place 20:21 by Kara Morris. Senior Stephanie Genis of Sharon won in 19:48. In Region 2 at Meadville HS, the Titusville boys were victorious. Meadville\'s Joe Amato went 16:20 for the win. Mercer took the girls\' title by four over Titusville behind Nicole Smith\'s 18:37 win. In Region 3 at Conneaut Lake HS, Lakeview tallied 43 for the boys\' win behind Mike Hardesty\'s 17:22. Lakeview also takes the girls\' title behind Emily Hoobler\'s 21:09 win. In Region 4 at Union City HS, it was the Youngsville boys behind Kyle Jone\'s 16:18 win. In the girls\' race, Eisenhower took the title after Seneca captured the regular season. North East\'s Mary Kay Bojarski ran 19:26 for the win. In Region 5 at Harbor Creek HS, it was a double team title by General McLane. Fort LeBoeuf\'s Bruce Hordusky ran 15:26 for the individual win, while Fairview\'s Aryn Gruneisen went 18:30 for a title. And in Region 6 at Brown\'s Farm in Erie, Mercyhurst Prep captured the boys\' team title by 11 over McDowell. Adam Kaiser, Cathedral Prep, went 16:46 to win. Villa Maria stopped McDowell by 19 in the girls\' race. But it was Central\'s Ashley Ferraro who took the individual crown, going 20:25.
