2 State Records Fall at Millrose

This past weekend at The Millrose Games, two of the longest-standing state records got broken with some incredible performances.

The first state record that fell was the girls' 4x800m with the squad from Penn Charter consisting of Marlie Klein, Mackenzie Skelly, Abby Downin, and Gwen Hamilton running 8:54.12 to improve on the previous state record by just over 8 full seconds.  This Penn Charter squad has been dangerous all year long, going back to the cross country season. They are currently ranked U.S. #3 in the 4x800m, U.S. #2 in the DMR, and have individuals ranked in the top 20 in the U.S. in both the mile and 2 mile. This Penn Charter squad has to be the favorite going into the PA State meet in less than a month now, with how loaded they are top to bottom in every event.

The Second state record that fell was in the boys' 600m dash, with Joshua Sharp of Upper Darby running 1:18.96, taking almost a full second off the previous record of 1:19.58, which was set by Haneef Hardy all the way back in 2012. Sharp is ranked #3 in the U.S. and has to be one of the favorites for the 800m state title, holding a PR of 1:50.58, which he ran last year outdoors. The Penn State commit is very far ahead of where he was last year at this time, holding a season's best time of 1:53.29, running that in early January, and will look to break that 1:50 barrier come States and Nationals.
