7/3-Thomas and Jones combine for two individual titles, Rainford wins two @ USATF Youth Champs

PA made a great showing in the single meet USATF Youth Outdoor Champs. Prepping for the IAAF World Youth Championships in a week in Morocco, West Catholic\'s Latavia Thomas won the YW 800 in 2:09.78. In Intermediate Girls action, Carver\'s Lavaughn Jones won the 3000 in 10:29.16 and took 2nd in the 1500 in 4:37.44. Trevon Rainford, Cheltenham, won the YM 1500 in 4:03.02 and the 5000 in 15:38.56.

Chichester\'s Carrington Queen went 13.93 to take 2nd in the YM 110 Hurdles. Taking 3rd was Juan Cave, St. Joseph\'s Prep via New Jersey, clearing 6-08.75 in the YM High Jump. Overbrook grad Sargbah Tarpeh took 4th in the YM 800, posting a 1:56.00. Phatback Athletics teammate Zach Malet, a rising senior at Friends\' Central, ran 1:55.64 in the prelims, and took 7th in the YM finals of the 1500 at 4:10.48. In the IM 800, Jamar Jones (Northeast HS, Phil), went 1:56.3 for 2nd. And Penn Charter\'s Kamal Marell went 55.16 in the 400 Hurdles.
