VOTE: PA Athlete of the Week (12/9-12/15)

It's week two of the indoor season, with meets taking place around the state and the conclusion of cross country after Saturday's Foot Locker Nationals. Each week - The PA MileSplit crew will nominate multiple athletes and allow you to vote for the best performance. This week's poll will close on Wednesday (December 18) at 8:00 pm EST.

The Week's Girls Candidates:

Destini Smith (Souderton Area)- Smith won the triple and long jump competitions at the DVGTCA Meet #2. She covered 18-11 in the long jump, ranking her PA No.1 and US No.2 in the event, and 39-7.5 in the triple jump, ranking her PA No.1 and US No.3 in the event.

Layla Gentile (Germantown Academy) - Gentile won the GA Shot Put Invite #1 with an impressive 39-11.75. Her effort ranks her PA No.1 and US No.13.

Tamryn Premici (Central Dauphin East) - Premici ran 7.83 over 60m's to win the 5th Annual Alvernia Holiday Classic. She takes over as PA No.2 for the event. 

Virginia Kraus (Saucon Valley) - Kraus finishes eighth at the historic cross country championship, Foot Locker Nationals. She ran 18:04.60 over the 5K distance. 



The Week's Boys Candidates:

James King (Northeast) - King beat Shaun McCoullum (George Washington) to win the PPL Season Kick-Off 60m dash. He ran 6.87, ranking him PA No.1 and US No.4.

Joachim Johnson (Episcopal Academy) - Johnson won the TFCA of GP Meet #1, clearing 6-6 in the high jump. He now ranks PA No.2 and US No. 11.

Vinay Raman (Hershey) - Raman ran 16:21.70, placing 31st at Foot Locker Nationals. The race was a traditional high school cross country 5K.  

Will Cipollone (Malvern Prep) - Cipollone took the GA Shot Put Invite #1 crown with a 53-6.25 throw. His effort ranks him PA No.2.
