According to PIAA Assistant Executive Director Mark Byers - who doubles as meet director for the upcoming PIAA Foundation race - the course at Hershey will be intact as designed for the District 3 Championships Wednesday, October 26th, and the State Championships to be held Saturday, November 5th. The course may have to be altered for the PIAA Foundation race, slated for Saturday, September 24th.
Byers says the only bridge damaged by the recent flooding was the first one just prior to the mile. The steel bridge just after the mile and the main crossing are both intact. Byers says that Hershey expects to replace the damaged bridge in time for the Foundation meet. If for some reason it can't be fixed in time, there are contingency plans to reroute the course for this meet only.
Hersheypark is expected to be open this weekend.
