James Carney, Millersville All-American, Pro Distance Runner
(9th at US Olympic Team Marathon Trials, January 2012)

"The farm course at Kutztown is quickly leveraging itself as one of the premier and iconic cross country races on the east coast.  Having run the course several times in the late 1990's including the 1999 PSAC championship race, I can honestly say the course is rigid, unforgiving, yet fair to all athletes. I am proud to say my sponsor, New Balance will be part of the 2012 Penn Track XC 4"

Carolyn Fergus, North Penn 2010, Runs for Kutztown University

I currently compete for the Kutztown University women's XC and track&field teams. I've suffered from shin splints for the last year or so, and as a result I tend to seek out soft surfaces for my training runs. This means in the last 7 or 8 months of school, I ran on the course literally every single day. It's my favorite place in the entire world - gorgeous, fast, and just enough tough terrain to make it a true cross country course.

Note: Carolyn will be publishing a series call Freshman Fridays with tips for incoming freshman this summer on HuxleyRunningCo.org.

Chris Monheim, Coach-Chambersburg HS - Ran the Farm Course for Shlppensburg University

I have always liked the Kutztown course and consider it one of the real Championship venues in the state.  I think the course is very fair, and while it doesn't have any killer hills, it can be deceivingly challenging.  My athletes loved the course last year and it's also great for spectators.

Jo Rupp, Competed for Millersville University

I agree with Chris, one of my favorite courses to run….I have a lot of good memories from the invitationals and championships that KU hosted. KU was essentially my second “home” course during my time at Millersville.  I knew that course like the back of my hand.
