4/6 - Susquehanna University meet attracts top talent

Susquehanna University is hosting the upper valleys of PA, and attracting some of the best talent in the state. For instance, Charity Payne, who lives just minutes away, used the meet to get off the state leading Shot Put of 43-01 to lead PA by almost seven feet! Lewisburg's Ashleigh Wetzel did a strong distance double, taking the 1600 in 5:07.67, and the 3200 in 11.36.85. The 1600 time is PA#2. Danielle Grubb of Danville, was a double victor, taking the 100 in 13.36 and the 200 in 27.45. The Lewisburg girls took the 4x100 (4:14.76) and the 4x800 (9.46.99). In the boys competiton, Tyler Fedeli followed up his state leading 6-8 High Jump from the week before, with a 6-6 effort. In the sprints, Thad Mitchell of Altoona took both short sprints from Steve Huffman of Montoursville, winning the 100 by .07 in 11.20, and the 200 by .55 in 22.62. Montoursville's Eric Baker got better as the distance went up, finishing 10th in the 100, 3rd in the 200, and winning the 400 in 50.59. In the Hurdles, Jeff Kiss, Windber, and Brian Johnston, Altoona, traded first and second, with Kiss winning the 110 in 14.81 and Johnston the 300 in 39.60. Altoona took all three relays, 43.60, 3:26.34, and 8:19.27. Rob Kerris of Southern Columbia won the Shot Put with a toss of 48-03 and the Discus, going 149-11.
