Central Bucks West Relays

North Penn is on a mission their 4x800 this spring, as they won't let anyone pass, even in a tune-up invitational. They went 7:57.8 to hold off Bishop McDevitt by less than two seconds. They also took the Sprint Medley in 3:33.3, again holding off a determined McDevitt team, which finished under six second behind. The West Catholic girls took the 4x100 (48.9), the 4x200 (1:41.3), the 4x400 (3:57.3) and the 2x300 Hurdles (1:31.5). Host CB West won the Sprint Medley in 4:10.9. Penn Ridge was 2nd in 4:12.4, while North Penn was 3rd in 4;13.0. Gwynedd-Mercy's DMR was pushed by Council Rock, winning in 12:25.9 to 12:28.7, as a hard-charging Jessica Cickay went 5:06 to nearly pull the comeback victory. Both Rock squads set meet records in the 4x1600, the girls going 21:49.2 (Cickay 5:15), and the boys going 17:55.6 (DiDio 4:23).

HIGHLIGHTS:

The West Catholic girls set three meet and stadium records while capturing four relays, including the 4x100 (48.9), the 2x300 Hurdles (1:31.5 MR), the 4x200 (1:41.3 MR), and the 4x400 (3:57.3 MR).

CR boys and girls both meet records in the 4x1,600

-- Boys: Chris Hoerger, Rob Hampson, John Palumbo, Mike DiDio (DiDio ran 
4:23+ split. No one had accurate splits for everybody.)

-- Girls: Lindsay Blum, Meryl Nash, Jen Shouldis, Jessica Cickay (5:15. Later 
ran 5:06 on DM to make it close after took the baton way behind Gwynedd).

Other highlights:

Jessica Johnson NP 40-4 SP, 110-3 discus (teammate Kate Purcell 105-9 discus)

Nick Ventrola CR 167-11 JAV

NP boys 42.8 in 4x100 and 44.4 in JV 4x100 (four different kids)

Troy Roberson WT 1:56.3 split (third leg) in 4x800. NP's Steve Craig held off 
WT's John Sarge on anchor leg.

Kourtney Marquis, Pennsbury, did 10-6 in PV but had no partner, so she was 
excluded from the medals. (Other teams had two vaulters, although they may 
have no heighted)
