5/14 - Ashley Kaufman tuned up for the Javelin competition

PIAA District 7 AA Championships

The AA teams in District 7 (the counties surrounding Pittsburgh) got a jump on the rest of the state, getting a week and a half of rest before States. Ashley Kaufman of Freedom tuned up for the Javelin competition with a throw of 135-03. Jocelyn Lindsay of Waynesburg, did what was necessary to qualify, going 10-03 in the Pole Vault. Valley's Mycah Clemons took the Long Jump (16-08.75) and her frosh sister, Mycaiah, took the 100 Hurdles (15.14).Margi Smith, Quaker Valley, was .1 back. Our Lady of the Sacred Heart's Katie Purcel won the 1600 in 5:18.33 and the 3200 in 11:31.17. For the guys, Derek Mears of Waynesburg took both the Discus (155-06) and the Shot Put (51-04.50). In the sprints, Brad Mueller of Mars, took the 100 in 10.97, the 200 in 23.32, and anchored his team's winning 4x400 to a 3:24.1.
