5/14 - Sam Bair tunes up for state running 4:12.45

PIAA District 7 AAA Championships

Sam Bair, Shaler, tuned up for states by focusing on the 1600. His 4:12.45 set a meet record. That left the 800 to Matt Evans of Hempfield, who took a 1:53.30 to the winner's stand. Later in the evening, Baldwin's Dan Mazzocco ran alone in the rain, but still managed a 9:19.73 3200. Mt. Lebanon's 4x800 showed they are ready for Ship with a 7:53.89. Kiski's Joey Tutchstone was a double winner, going 38.97 in the 300H and 14.85 for the 110H.Greensburg Salem took both the 4x100 (42.98) and the 4x400 (3:23.46). For the girls, the Discus and Jav were notable, with Melissa Stewart, Indiana tossing the disc 135-09, and Ringgold's Stephanie Kuhn gong 140-08. Stewart also won the Shot Put (41-02.25). In the 4x800, Mt. Lebanon posted a very telling 9;22.08. North Allegheny was less than two seconds back at 9;23.42. The 800 should be entertaining at States with the help of Amy Egan of Latrobe (2;14.21). Stephanie Madia left her options open, winning both the 1600 in 5:02.51, and the 3200 in 10:51.87. Other double winners included Caitlyn Ward, Hampton, 25.18 and 57.65; and Denia Matthews (15.23 100H and 44.77 300H.
