5/19 - Cardinal O'Hara three points shy of sweeping team titles

Sunday, May 19, 2002 - Philadelphia Catholic League Championships @ Widener University - Cardinal O'Hara came up just three points shy of pulling off a clearn sweep of the PCL team championships from XC to indoor and outdoor. The boys and girls both captured the PCL XC and Indoor champs, and the boys clearly won the outdoor title. But it was Archbishop Ryan's depth that refused to lose as O'Hara finished 3rd in the 4x400, but needed 1st to win the title. Individually, Archbishop Carroll's Maurice Stovall ran one of the fastest 400's in the state this season, in a one-on-one duel with McDevitt's Tariq Boston 48.08-48.85. Dougherty's James Jefferson captured both the 100 (11.03-Boston:11.13) and 200 (21.99). O'Hara's Craig Haywood won the High Jump, clearing 6-02 and the Long Jump, leaping 20-06.50. Nicole Leach, West Catholic (56.61 400/62.19 400H); Karon Lugay, O'Hara (12.23 100/25.00 200); an Denise Tetkowski, Ryan 17-02.00 LJ/34-07.25 TJ), were all double winners.
