6/3 WKND: Cardinal O\'Hara 3rd in NY. Latavia Thomas wins 800 in FL | Jeffers, Moore win @ Easterns

While the majority of PA athletes and teams have shut down for the season, two teams from the Philadelphia Catholic League still have members participating in post-season meets. On Saturday, the boys of Cardinal O\'Hara were in New York City at Icahn Stadium, while the West Catholic girls were in Orlando Florida at the Golden South Invitational. O\'Hara was joined by LaSalle on Sunday at the Boys\' Eastern States meet at Iona Prep in New York.

Cardinal O\'Hara coach Tom Kennedy reports that the Lions finished 3rd in the Invitational 4x800, the only boys\' prep event held as part of the Reebok Grand Prix meet of world-class competition. O\'Hara posted a 7:53.64. New York\'s Monsignor Farrell and Fordham Prep went one-two in 7:50-points. O\'Hara\'s splits were: Matt Willard: 1:57.6; Greg Thomas 1:56.8; Charlie McNulty 2:02.7; Ed Buck, (Soph) 1:56.2.

At Golden South on June 3, Latavia Thomas tuned up for her final weeks as a high school runner with a 2:11.88 win in the 800. Simone Carter finished 3rd in the 100, going 12.06. Complete West Catholic results are below.

Cardinal O\'Hara will ran in the Sunday, June 4th Boys\' Eastern States Championships at Iona Prep, along with Catholic League rival LaSalle. Pat Jeffers and Brian Moore won their respective events for LaSalle, with Jeffers setting a PR of 9:28.7 in the 3200, and Moore throwing 191-01 to take the Javelin. Also running well for LaSalle were Bob McCullough, 5th in the 3200 in 9:48.5 and Sean Casey, taking 4th in the 800 in 1:56.1.
