Highlighting the weekend... In two distance races on Saturday at the FRED HARDY INVITATIONAL at the University of Richmond, Neely Spence (Homeschooled) ran a 6-second PR in the 1500M and a 13-second PR in the 3000M. The Strath Haven boys are out of the blocks fast at the CHICHESTER RELAYS at Chichester HS. Even running in the small school division of the large school-small school meet, they posted top times of the day in three of the four relays they won, and tied for top honors in the fourth. The Chester girls broke a long-standing meet record in the 1600 SMR. Penncrest's Karen Shump opened with an 8-foot-plus PR in the discus. She also eased the shot out over 44'. In the first year of West Chester University's GOLDEN RAM INVITATIONAL, the stars were popping. Less than a week after celebrating her 17th birthday, junior sensation Ryann Krais shook off the indoor turns and stretched a bit to add the longer distances in the hurdles. The results were much the same, as she won the 100 and the 300 barrier-races. She also ran the 400 leg of the winning sprint medley relay, and the anchor leg of the winning 4x400. The Methacton girls won the team title, as Krais was named the MVP of the meet. Glen Mills won the boys' team title behind the MVP efforts of Jhavonte Carr who won the 100 and was 2nd to Ridley's Kevin Wilbank by just .01 in the 200. Glen Mills won the 4x400. At Phoenixville High School's PHOENIX RELAYS, the Coatesville boys set two meet records. They crushed their 2005 1:33.34 4x200 relay mark. They weren't too kind to Downingtown West's 2005 distance medley relay record of 10:46.77 either. The Coatesville guys also won the 4x400. At the "POP" EMREY WARM-UP RELAYS @ Liberty HS, the Pocono Mountain West girls won the 4x100 and the 800m sprint medley relay. The Pennridge girls controlled the distance events. The host Liberty boys won the DMR. In the field events, Anita James of Pocono Mountain West leapt nearly 18' to capture the long jump. Ashley Pinter of Liberty won the shot put.
