9/25-ACC girls beat two formerly ranked NE teams, Murray wins, Neely Spence debuts @ Paul Short Inv Sep 25, 2004

They\'re back. Allentown Central Catholic stayed home in the Lehigh Valley and had two previously ranked Northeast teams come to them. They beat both. In the boys race, NE#9 Monsignor Farrell won the boys race by 37 over West Chester East, 2nd with 109. Central Bucks South\'s Kyle Murray (photo by Bob Rodgers) went 15:41 to win. And 14-year-old Neely Spence made her high school debut - in the college open 6k race because she is homeschooled - and finished 4th on the 6k course.

Liberty freshmen Josh McDougal simply does not understand the concept of losing. Not that it is a bad quality as McDougal went on to win his third consecutive major invitational collegiate victory in as many races in his young career at the prestigious and competitive Paul Short Invitational. Considered annually as one of the premier collegiate cross country meets on the East Coast with many of the nation\'s best teams and individuals competing in the event, Liberty\'s McDougal made easy work of the competition as he blazed to a scorching 8 kilometer time of 23:43.53.

The College of William & Mary women will be making one of their first trips to the Paul Short Run in recent history as they headline a group of Virginia schools competing in the competitive collegiate meet. Paul Short also will be the highly anticipated debut race of University of Richmond freshmen Caitlyn Chock. The women\'s programs from Christopher Newport University, Liberty University, Lynchburg College, and the University of Richmond will also be in racing action at Paul Short.

Some of Virginia\'s best collegiate programs in cross country will be venturing to compete in the Lehigh University hosted Paul Short Invitational in one of the Mid-Atlantic\'s most competitive collegiate meets. Christopher Newport University, The College of William & Mary, Liberty University, Lynchburg College, University of Richmond, and Virginia Commonwealth University round out a large contingent of Virginia schools competing at Paul Short. In particular, William & Mary and Christopher Newport will be using this meet to prove their claims to be ranked in their respective top 25 national rankings.
