Boys' Preview
Last year at this meet, Winchester Thurston's Tristan Forsythe beat out Franklin Regional's Mark Provenzo by seven seconds for the win. After that great battle in 2015, we'll try it again!
Both runners toed the line at the Red, White & Blue Classic, but in different class races (Provenzo had a slightly better time). Now they'll be in the same race and it should be a good one. Forsythe has had a busy fall, running at RWB, Hershey, Ohio, and most recently Paul Short on the eastern part of PA, where he ran 15:40. Provenzo has been consistent all season long, running a huge PR at Sharpsville with a 15:36.
Lots of other big names are in the field, including South Fayette's Aaron Pfiel and Baldwin's Casey Conboy---both ranked in the top 25 in the state. Kiski Area's Eric Kennedy, Winchester Thurston's Ben Littman, and South Fayette's Sam Snodgrass will be among the other names to watch for.
In the team race, we'll get another look at the upstart Seneca Valley squad. They were a surprise third at the Foundation Invite (ahead of WPIAL power North Allegheny). SV will look to prove they are a serious contender in not just District 7, but the entire state. Sam Owori, Trey Raznauskas and Seth Ketler make for a very strong top three to lead Seneca Valley.
Winchester Thurston, Pittsburgh Central Catholic, and Knoch are some of the other schools to watch for in what should be a very exciting race.
