PA Heat Up Again: Week 6 Meet Recaps

Harbor Creek Dirty Dawg Invitational - Meet Recap

-By Abby Huber

Harbor Creek's Madeline Curtis won on her home turf on Saturday at the Harbor Creek Dirty Dawg invite. Not far behind Curtis was Cassie Carr of Girard. Curtis and Carr are no strangers to competing with one another. The pair finished within a second of one another last year at the District 10 meet.

The McDowell girls won as a team in 55 points and were led by Maddie Peterson, who was third overall in 21:25.90.

Sophomore Genevive Feltmeyer led the Fort Leboeuf girls team to their second place finish. Freshman Ivy Laffan was another major contributor, placing ninth overall.

The top three boys to cross the finish line also did well on their home course. Harbor Creek's Ryan Starvaggi clocked a 16:21.37 to win the meet. His teammate, Aiden Weber, ran 16:35.91 for second. Starvaggi and Weber were both state medalists last year and will be two to watch out for at the District 10 championships this fall. Harbor Creek's Christian Babo was not far behind the duo, running 16:48.55 for third. After these three solid performances, the team naturally won the team title with a low score of 29 points.

In the team scoring, McDowell came in second with 53 points and Seneca was third overall. Seneca won the District 10 single A race last season and had a solid showing against some AA and AAA teams on Saturday. Brock Smith led the Seneca team placing fourth individually with a 17:02.33. Jake Schneider also placed in the top ten, running 17:32 for eighth place.
