Girls Recap

Karina Long of Lower Dauphin picked up her second win in two weeks, winning the long jump with a leap of 18-5.25, just off her own state lead.

State College's Taylor Givens won a close one in the 55 meter dash. Givens clocked in at 7.32 (T-PA#2) for the win over Warwick's Leah Graybill, who took second in 7.32 (PA#4). Givens was also second to Long in the long jump, leaping 17-5.5.

Piper Klinger of Selinsgrove had a huge day in the shot put. Klinger, who entered Saturday with a PR of 35-10 from this past spring, launched it 40-6.75 to take over the state lead. Klinger was already one of the state's best discus throwers outdoors (sixth at states), but now it appears she'll be a serious factor in the shot put as well this season.

Hempfield's Carena Nottoli moved up the state rankings in the pole vault. The senior cleared 12-0, her best of the season and she now sits at PA#3. State College's Lyndsey Reed and Loyalsock's Hailey Zurich tied for second place, both jumping 11-6. It proved, once again, that the race to the top in PA will be a great battle this season.

Maddie McLain earned a sweep of the longer distance events. The Eastern York senior won the 1600 meters in a PA#1 5:23.54 and came back to win the 3200 meters in another PA#1, 11:22.07.

State College's Esther Seeland won the 400 meter in a PA#5 1:00.31, while Fleetwood Area's Sarah Crissman won the 800 meters in a PA#6 2:25.94.

State College Area took third in the 4x800 meter relay in a PA#3 10:31.

Boys Recap

Selinsgrove's Keith Dreese asserted that he may be the one to beat in the shot put this winter. The senior threw a best of 55-9 to take the state lead by over three feet. Fleetwood's Seth Wagner was second with a throw of 49-10.5, a half inch better than Selinsgrove's Brennen Wolf.

Payton Morris of East Pennsboro claimed his third win in as many weeks. The senior jumped 15-0 in the pole vault to grab the victory. He's still tied for the state lead in the event with his 15-3 from last week.

State College's Cohen Russell earned a pair of wins in the sprints. He went 6.56 (PA#3) to take the 55 meter win and then returned to win the 200 meters in 23.69. Mitchell Etter, also from State College, went 9:40.50 to run away with the 3200 meter victory.
