AAA Boys' 4x400m Relay Preview
Saint Joseph's Prep rode the momentum of its win in both the 4x400-meter relay and the overall team competition at indoor states into indoor nationals, where it captured the national title behind a dramatic anchor leg by Miles Green. Now that squad will look to add an outdoor state title.
Prep dropped a 3:15.56 to take the PCL race at the Penn Relays, a time that is nearly four seconds ahead of the next fastest time. The Hawks will be the heavy favorites for gold come the final race of the day on Saturday afternoon.
Bensalem flexed its muscle this past Saturday, winning the District 1 title. The Owls have some solid quarter mile depth and it showed. Bishop Shanahan was a close second to Bensalem. Both teams will come back strong this weekend.
North Allegheny won the WPIAL title and emerged as a serious threat. Along with Greater Latrobe and last year's state champions Norwin, look for some good D7 representation on the podium. J.P. McCaskey earned the District 3 win, edging out Milton Hershey. Milton Hershey was second last year. McCaskey, meanwhile, has been solid all season and should make some noise.
Upper Darby, Chester, and Pennridge are among the other teams that will look to mix it up with the best.
Last year, the 4x400 closed out the meet in epic fashion last year. We'll see if it can do the same this time around.
