Wallenpaupack packed its full top five inside the top ten of the District 2 Class AAA race last season, en route to a 29-point performance and 28-point win last fall at Lakeland. With its closest competitor from last season moving to Class AA, the road to a district title and the state meet may have got even easier for Wallenpaupack this season.
Tyler Wirth, one of the state's top runners, is back for his senior season and four others are back from last year's varsity team for Wallenpaupack. Breakthrough freshman from last season Dieter Burckes and rising senior Jack Monte return from the top ten in the district last season.
Williamsport Area, which was fourth at districts last year, returns a young group, to be paced by Ryley Holcomb, who was 13th in D2-AAA last season. Hazleton Area, third at districts last season, brings back four boys from varsity. The same goes for Delaware Valley, who will be led by 12th place district finisher Jared Krick.
