The six girls in District 12 Class AA have either graduated or changed classifications coming into this season, but that doesn't mean there's a lack of talent in D12-AA this fall. Archbishop Wood's return to AA will make the battle for the top spot (and the 10 individual qualifying spots) interesting this season.
The favorite for the district title heading into this season looks to be Casey Ems of Wood. Ems was fifth in D12-AAA last season and clocked her 5K season best of 20:27 at the state meet a week later where she placed 95th. Along with teammate Shannon Kelly (eighth in D12-AAA last year), Ems will look to lead Wood to a 1-2 finish.
The top AA returner from last year is Maggie Salter, who took seventh in D12-AA last year with a PR of 21:48. Salter and her Prendie teammates Corrina O'Lock and Hailey Bierling will shoot for high finishes again this season.
Lansdale Catholic's Sara Murphy is another one to watch in D12-AA this fall.
