Thursday.. October 5, 2006
Training: 50 minutes
Strength: ABC drills
Day Mileage: 6.5 miles, 10.5km
Week Total: 18.5 miles, 30 km
Where: Wolhusen
Weather: cool and drizzly
Details: Remember I always WAY undercut my mileage to make sure I have those miles. I don't really run over 7 minute pace for a regular run, but it's more important to count the minutes on your legs rather than the miles…But you just have to have a general idea of where your mileage is so you don't do too much or too little.
OUTLOOK
Okay, I had a meeting with Fritz and we are going to just stick to base-building until Christmas and then start training for my half marathon starting in January. I have some road races until Christmas with high mileage and then I cut back down a bit at the end of December. Then my first bigger race is on March, which is when Swiss Cross Country Championships are held. Of course I will be training for the half-marathon, but with the strength from THAT training, I could still run a fast cross race. My bigger goal is Swiss Champs in the half marathon in April, which is what my training will be geared toward. Yaaaaay!!! Or like we say in Switzerland, JOUHOII! FritzBoss gave me some new motivation at our meetingJ

Training "secrets" revealed….
Okay, not really. It's funny, over here everyone's training is a huge secret. Maybe it is like that over there, but I am not sure. Someone could take someone's training plan, who runs a 15:15 for a 5k, and then copy-cat them, but it doesn't mean that it will work for them…so I am not really sure why there is all this secrecy around training. It's like they want to make sure nobody else knows what they are doing… Now that I think about it, it's probably like that over in the States too. But it just hit me because a lot of people are always like, "I can't believe you tell everyone what/how you run…" and are shocked. What works for one person doesn't necessarily work for the other so I don't care if I share my info. with people!!! There are skeptics, there are supporters of what I am doing…But in the end, all that matters is that I believe in myself…I believe, I believe, I believe.
