THE FLU

Start training again (Dec. 18-22)

December 23rd to December 30th
The FLU part 2

Dec 31-Jan….. Start training again….again.
Slams me every year…last time I was this sick was last February when I had to sit out University World Championships, which was a disappointment, but this year I didn't miss out on anything like that, just on TRAINING AND BASE!!! I had finally built up to 70 miles per week, and then I get sick… So it sucked. I went to the doctor three times before I flew to the Raleigh, NC for a wedding and he said I had bronchitis, laryngitis, and a middle-ear infection, which had moved from my right ear to my left ear (which even the Doc. said was weird)… So I had it pretty bad. Well then I fly to Raleigh, NC for a wedding and started my training back up on Monday December 18th and ran 35 t0 40 minutes every day until Saturday the 23rd, when I got sick again. I am not sure if I had re-infected myself with the same sickness again or if I had caught a new bug that had been going around in North Carolina… So basically I had two solid weeks off, ran 5 days, and then got sick again and had to take off yet another week because I got really sick again (with a temperature)…

So the saying I loved before, fall down 7 times, stand up 8….has NOW turned into fall down about 50 times and then crawl back up 51 times… It is very frustrating because this really messes up my whole training plan for my half marathon and my cross country season, but there is nothing I can do about the past, so I have to make the best out of the future… So, this is where I am at now; I started running again and building back up! I started running on New Year's Eve and now have built back up to a week where I can hit about 40 miles this week and then creep up to 55 miles before making the jump back up to 70.
