Central Cambria completed an undefeated season with their first state championship in 5 years. Their top five ranked in the top 16 in the final Class A rankings list, led by four 10th graders. Elk Lake finished ahead of 2013 champion Holy Cross to earn their 2nd straight team silver medal. These three teams look primed to make another run at the title in 2015, as only 3 of the 21 varsity runners on the 3 teams are seniors, and they finished way ahead of the rest.
The now two time state champion Marianne Abdalah of Vincentian Academy finishes the season on top with her 17:59 performance from early October. She’s half way to a high school sweep of the Class A title. The top five will all return in 2015, including Emma Seifried of Country Day School of the Sacred Heart, who won her league and district meets and finished with a runner up state performance. Only 3 seniors occupy the top 15 places. The future is bright for the girls Class A division.
