The weather in the morning was terrible, just POURING rain! But I ran with Astrid, so it was doable. She is going to attend Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff to run for the University so I will miss her for at least a year! Back down to the nitty gritty!!!
Well, for one thing it feels good to have my mileage back up to an acceptable level for a wanna' be half and marathon runner!!! I obviously have to do more, but I can just go from 50-60 a week to 80 so I am doing it the smart way and building up. And then I did a lot of supplemental training this week, which is NECESSARY!!! We have had some crazy weather over here from freakin' freezing with rain to 85 and humid so I am running through the elements, but feeling good again. I am making sure I get my rest and slowly filling in all the details that an almost-pro runner SHOULD. I've added some foot exercises that a marathoner showed me…He said I would be thankful for it later so I figured I'd listen to a guy who is SUPER FAST!!!!! Oh yeah, I also went to the chiropractor this week to get me all evened out again and BOY was my back crackin'! My neck too, I hate that! But after it's over, it feels really good. One tip the chiropractor gave me, was to not sit at the computer for too long!!! He told me that I have to get my butt up and moving around and not just sit in front of the computer for hours at a time…. Hey, I'm a student, this is my life. BUT, I've learned to do what he tells me!
Oh yeah, remember those allergies and asthma…Oh yeah, those problems are apparently still around…I am, however, seeing the number one sports medicine doctor and asthma specialist here I Switzerland next week to get it all cleared up. Apparently, I will have to be there for 3 hours as they conduct all these tests!!! So yeah, that already sounds very thorough. I have to bring my running clothes so they'll be workin' me on the treadmill with a mask on, I'm sure. It's this REAL sports medicine clinic where all the pros go, so I figured, hey, might as well go all out! Insurance is expensive as hell over here, so I might as well use it! I am covered really well so that way I could go to all kinds of specialists if I needed to…and now I need to.
Well…gettin' back to the nitty gritty feels good! Hah!
