Track

We have girls co track athletes of the week

Honor number 1 goes to Olivia Sargent of Pennsbury. The junior stole the show at the final DVGTCA regular season meet on Friday night with a US#2 3000 meter performance of 9:59.22! Sargent joins Madeleine Davison and Mady Clahane in the sub 10 minute club, and they are the only sub 10 minute 3000 meter runners in the country!


The other winner goes to Brianna Schwartz of Shaler Area for her distance triple success. Schwartz debuted with victories in the 1600 (4:55.86), 800 (2:14.30) and 3200 meter runs (10:47.90) at Youngstown State. Each performance cracked the US top 10 and she earned state leads in the 1600 and 3200 meter runs.



Field

Abby Jones of Franklin Area takes home the field honor this week for her high jump win at Youngstown State. Jones cleared 5-7 for the win and moved to within one inch of the state leaders Cyre Virgo of Fleetwood Area and Erika Voyzey of Tyrone Area.



Boys

Track

An impressive top five performance on a national TV stage gives Sam Ritz of Germantown Academy the award this week. The senior earned a 5th place finish with a lifetime best of 4:10.50 and improved his state lead in the event. His time puts him at US#7 on the season.



Field

We have boys co field athletes of the meet this week

Isaiah Brooks of Woodland Hills took a trip to Buckeye country and competed at the Ohio State High School Invitational and came away a double winner. His big win came in the triple jump, where he won with a US#5 mark of 48-7 and took a commanding lead in the state rankings. He also jumped 23-2 to win the long jump, where is still the US#7 best jumper.


The other award goes to throwing superstar Jordan Geist of Knoch. He was victorious once again in the shot put with a lifetimes best and US#2 mark of 65-10.75! He is 5.25 inches off the national lead and is nearly three feet off the state record.
