Girls' Brown Race Recap

The Pennsylvania soil has been good to Padua Academy's Lydia Olivere. The Delaware sophomore won her second race in as many weeks in Pennsylvania, clocking a 17:27 for the win. It's also the second straight week that Olivere pulled away convincingly in the final mile to grab a win. It's the second straight Brown Race win at Paul Short for her, too.

She was able to outlast a big pack that was together at around two miles. Shenendehowa's Julia Zachago (second place in 17:44) and Hannah Reale (fifth pace in 17:52) earned top five finishes to lead their New York squad to the overall win with 100 points. Tully's Brooke Rauber, also down from New York, took third place in 17:47.

Lauren Finikiotis took fourth overall in 17:49 for her first time under 18 minutes in her career. She also led her PA#1 Oakland Catholic team to another impressive team finish. This time it was second to the strong Shen team. The solid second pack of OC runners---Hannah Schupansky, Megan Nagy, Teresa Davison, and Kathryn Aldrich---fit between spots 20 and 50 for a 43 second 2-5 gap. Centerville from Ohio took third in the race.

Spring Ford upset PA#3 and PAC rival Perkiomen Valley for fourth place. Isabella Marchini (16th in 18:36) and Gabriella Bamford (35th in 19:00) posted to PRs to lead Spring Ford. Annie Glodek turned in another solid run, placing sixth in 18:03 (faster than her District 1 time from last year) as the top PV girl. Liberty's Rasia Kochmaruk was seventh in 18:08.

Cardinal O'Hara was seventh. The PA#4 squad welcomed back Olivia Arizin to the lineup, but were without usual fifth runner Sara Hayes. Arizin, in her first race this season, was eighth in 18:12.
