There was plenty of excitement at the second TSTCA meet of the season at Edinboro Univeristy over the weekend.
One of the most exciting races came in the girls' 60 meters, where a trio of best hurdlers in the Tri-State Track Coaches Association squared off. Oakland Catholic's Jayla Ellis, Bentworth's Brenna Cavanaugh, and Hempfield Area's Bailey Traczynski met in the finals of the hurdles and they didn't disappoint on the drama-meter.
At the line, Traczynski came out as a the narrow winner by a tenth of a second over Cavanaugh, who was a tenth of a second faster than Ellis. But it was actually the third place finisher in the finals, Ellis, that ran the day's fastest time---an 9.08. But when it counted most, Traczynski pulled out the victory.
Ellis now sits at PA#4, Cavanaugh is at PA#5 (from her YSU race) and Traczynski ranks PA#6. While many eastern PA hurdlers have garnered a lot of attention this season, these western PA talents are proving they are serious medal contenders come states time.
