Girls' Youngstown State HS Meet #2 Recap

Hickory's Tori McKinley made a big statement on Saturday in the shot put. The senior and Auburn signee threw 46-10.25. That's a PA#1 by a foot and a half and a US#5. It also tops McKinley's outdoor PR by over eight inches. Neumann Goretti's Janese Lynch previously held the top spot in the state since the opening weekend of the season.

McKinley also won the weight throw with a toss of 51-9.5. That's a PR and PA#1 for her.

Nicole Scherer of Burrell stayed undefeated in 2017. The Pitt-bound senior won both the 60 meters and the 200 meters. Scherer ran an indoor PR of 25.23 in the 200 meters to move to PA#4 on the season. 7.88 was her 60 time.

Upper St. Clair's Savannah Shaw won the 1600 meters, dropping a very quick 5:03.77 for a convincing win. The time is a PA#1 over that specific distance and a PA#4 if you convert to the mile.

Greensburg-Salem's Riley Kwiatkowski bettered her winning 3200 meter time from a few weeks ago at YSU. Kwiatkowski ran 11:11.70 to improve upon her own PA#1 in the event.

Hickory won both the 4x200 and 4x400-meter relays. They ran a PA#9 1:46.52 in the 4x2 and PA#5 4:03.03 in the 4x4 to cap off a big day. Greater Latrobe proved they can be a force in the 4x800 this season. They dropped a 9:48.81 to put them at PA#7.

McConnellsburg's McKenzie Gelvin took second in the 800 meters in a time of 2:20.36 and South Fayette's Rachel Helbling took third in 2:20.47. Those are PA#7 and PA#8 times respectively.
