Girls' Mile - Saturday, 2:59 P.M.
The girls' mile will be a very fast race, featuring some of Pennsylvania's best.
Unionville's Anna Juul and Germantown Academy's Abbe Goldstein are in the field, after winning Millrose qualifiers this winter. Juul holds the PA#1 time of 4:52.24 to win the AT&T Hall of Fame Invitational at the Armory in December off XC fitness. Juul's got herself back in good shape and appears ready to pop a big race on Saturday.
Goldstein ran 4:52.45 at the Hispanic Games last month to earn her second straight trip to Millrose. Last year, she took sixth place in 4:53.68. She placed second at the New Balance Grand Prix two weeks ago. She's no stranger to the big meet atmosphere and Saturday could be the day for Goldstein to pick up the biggest win of her career.
Also in the field is Cardinal O'Hara's Olivia Arizin, another returner from last year's Millrose Mile. Arizin has raced the mile just once this winter, but had a big win at Ocean Breeze two weeks ago, running 2:11 in the 800 meters. The speed is there for the Georgetown recruit and she'll look to prove that the strength is, too, on Saturday.
The favorite looks to be Kelsey Chmiel of Saratoga Springs (NY), a sophomore who ran 4:51 back in December. Hayley Jackson from Maryland, Katherine Lee from New York, and Rachel MacArthur from Virginia are among the others who should be in contention for the win.
