Katie Jones' magical season continues.
The South Williamsport senior won the Flying Circus Junior Girls' Pole Vault at the Millrose Games on Thursday night at the Armory. Jones cleared 13-0.25 for the win over a field that included an incredible seven Pennsylvania athletes.
Jones, who broke the PA indoor state record a few weeks ago at the New Balance Grand Prix with a height of 13-6.5, tied for second at last year's Millrose Games, but her ability in the event has since skyrocketed. Jones entered the competition at 12-0.25. She was good on the first try over that and 12-4.5. She missed on her first attempt at 13-0.25, but made it on her second try.
Leah Saifi of New Jersey was second overall. Hempfield's Carena Nottoli was fifth (12-4.5), Spring Grove's Nathalie Elliot was seventh (11-8.25), James M. Coughlin's Madisyn Hawkins took eighth (11-8.5), Pittston Area's Abby Norwillo was ninth (11-4.5), and the Manheim Township duo of Courtney German and Mackenzie Horn both cleared 11-4.5 for 11th and 12th respectively.
