Jordan Geist took a giant step in the history books on Saturday. The Knoch senior threw 76-10.5 in the boys' shot put at the TSTCA Indoor Championships at Edinboro University.
That throw betters Geist's own indoor state record (and all conditions record, too). It's also the second best indoor throw by a high schooler all-time. He sits just 4.25 inches off Ryan Crouser's national indoor record of 77-2.75 from 2011. Crouser was the Olympic shot put champion this past summer in Rio.
Geist threw 75-3.5 on his second throw of the competition to break his state record. Then in his sixth and final attempt he went even bigger with the 76-10.5.
