There was no shortage of excitement and unpredictability in the 3200 meters last season and we can expect more of the same this year, with a number of guys vying for that PA#1 spot.
While he isn't listed in the preseason rankings after competing in New York last season, Carlisle's Noah Affolder has the fastest returning time. Running for Carthage, Affolder dropped an 8:47 last spring in the event. Expect Affolder to chase Paul Springer's state record of 8:49.84 from 2007.
Germantown Friends' Nick Dahl has the fastest returning PA time from last season. He ran 9:02.10 at the Henderson Invitational. Expect Dahl to go after a quick 3200 meters again this season after a big indoor season that included a state-leading 8:30 in the 3000.
